Thank you to everyone who came out to Blue Oak Realty’s customer appreciation event in Vermillion last Saturday!

A little rain couldn’t stop us!  We served up over 100 cups of coffee from Third Eye Coffee and 9 dozen donuts from Jelly Donuts, plus raised over $840 for Continuing the Mission, a local organization that supplies service dogs to veterans.

The Town of Huntersville and Mecklenburg County have officially approved an agreement to establish a permanent Veteran Services Office in Huntersville.

Originally announced in January, this office will provide support to veterans in areas such as housing, health care, education, employment, benefits assistance, and more. It will be located inside the new Town Hall and will offer walk-in appointments Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This creates a consistent, accessible resource for veterans right here in our community.

The Planning Board recently heard a request to rezone multiple parcels totaling approximately 12 acres along S. Old Statesville Road, just south of Mount Holly–Huntersville Road.

The site sits at what is essentially the southern gateway to Downtown Huntersville and includes the property where Dearness Gardens currently operates.

The applicant proposed a mixed-use development that would include up to:

  • 238 apartments
  • 10 townhomes
  • Approximately 8,000 square feet of non-residential space, intended primarily for retail

After discussion, the Planning Board recommended denial of the request. Key concerns included the limited amount of non-residential space and the scale (massing) of the proposed apartment buildings in relation to the existing residential homes behind the site.

If you’ve driven past The Guest House by Choplin’s lately, you may have noticed something new taking shape. Footers are poured. Dirt is moving. And yes, another building is officially going up next door.

Here’s what we know. Upstairs is already spoken for Image Studios is coming in, individual salon suites that beauty professionals can lease and make their own. That’s a solid addition for the area.

As for the downstairs? Nothing leased yet. The goal is to bring in tenants who will serve the neighborhood well and take advantage of the outdoor plaza space, which is a big win for downtown.

Let's Make It Happen!
