1) The approved project at 106 Gilead, which was commonly referred to as Holbrook Phase 2, is no longer happening as they have lost their financial backing.
This was to be a smaller version of the mixed-use project that went in directly across the street. Now, the Town of Huntersville has entered into an agreement to purchase the 1.7-acre property.
2) The Planning Board recommended approval of amending the rezoning of Vermillion Village.
The changes include eliminating the 2nd floor in their upcoming non-residential buildings. This is expected to bring a more appropriate amount of parking and 2-3 outdoor patios and activity areas that were not found in the original rezoning.
3) Here are some brief updates on things happening in Downtown Huntersville.
- Cocette has installed permanent signage and is making progress towards the grand opening; so is its neighbor, Corkscrew.
- Renderings of what the new owner of the old town hall envisions have been released, and they’re impressive.
- The brickwork has been completed on 206 Gilead, and it has an early 1900’s warehouse vibe. While a tenant has been secured for the 2nd floor, the owners are still looking for the perfect food & beverage tenant to take the first floor and share the large patio space with The Guesthouse. Speaking of that section of Gilead, all the utilities have finally been buried and all the unsightly poles and wires removed.
