1) We recommended approval of rezoning the northeast corner of Beatties Ford and Mt. Holly-Huntersville. It had already been rezoned years ago for a drugstore with a drive-thru and another commercial building. Instead of the drugstore, this request was a convenience store with a gas canopy. The goal will be to still get a second commercial building on the property with one of the conditions being they carry similar architectural design and styling. Another condition was the completion of a public road along the northern edge of the site.
2) We recommended approval of rezoning four parcels along Sam Furr. This will allow for a daycare and a storage unit to be built, with the two remaining parcels yet to be determined. Key conditions to the rezoning include the removal of numerous by-right uses and the offer of green giant arborvitaes to every adjacent property owner, which aids in screening the buildings.

Huntersville commissioners held their first meeting in the new Town Hall
The council chambers are now twice the size, and the town officially marked the milestone with a ribbon-cutting on January 23.
