Planning Board Recap – April 6, 2023

1) We recommended approval of a sketch plan that adds 39 rental townhomes to the Caldwell Station apartment complex that’s under construction.

2) We received an overview of the Town’s Mobility Plan, which will build upon the Huntersville 2040 Community Plan.

The goal is to improve connections between vehicles, pedestrians, and bicycles plus set a new standard for street design.

3) We had an initial discussion about including townhomes as a housing option within Town Center zoning (think Downtown Huntersville).

When the Town Board eliminated a specific ordinance last year tied to transit centers and, in this area, the “Red Line,” it essentially made it impossible to build townhomes as an infill project. In a straw poll, the Planning Board unanimously decided that it should be explored. Definitely looking forward to working on this one.
