Huntersville commissioners held their first meeting in the new Town Hall

The new facility sits just behind the former building along Old Statesville Road and brings all town staff under one roof for the first time, a big win for efficiency and collaboration. The council chambers are now twice the size, and the town officially marked the milestone with a ribbon-cutting on January 23. With staff fully moved in, the town will now begin exploring options for the former Town Hall property, though future use has not yet been determined.

High Street District Development is seeking to rezone roughly 12 acres at Old Statesville Road and Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road. The proposal would replace Dearness Gardens and nearby properties with up to 6,000 sq. ft. of commercial space and 259 apartment units.

WLA Enterprises is seeking to rezone 44 acres at Sam Furr Road and Old Statesville Road for a project called Knox Crossing. Plans include a 45,000-sq. ft. grocery store, gas station, five retail buildings totaling 24,200 sq. ft., 324 apartments, 96 townhomes, and a greenway trail, along with new public infrastructure to support the development.
