1) We recommended approval of a request to rezone ~2.5 acres at the southeast corner of Beatties Ford and Broadway for outdoor recreation and rentable meeting/office spaces. They plan to offer sand volleyball, kubb, cornhole, and other games outside while converting the existing home on the property to a meeting/office space. Coffee, smoothies, and adult beverages along with a food truck are expected.
2) We recommended approval of a request by Epcon Communities to rezone six parcels totaling ~78.7 acres on Beatties Ford Road southwest of the Gilead Road intersection for a 118-lot, single-family home subdivision. While it is their intention to formally do so, we made our recommendation contingent on this being a 55+ active adult community. This will reduce the number of vehicles on the road and trips during peak hours vs. a standard development.
