1) Bedrock Ace Hardware opens on April 17!
There’s been a lot of buzz on social media about this one! Exit 23 will now have its own hardware store tucked into the Food Lion shopping plaza. We’ll post pictures on social media prior to its grand opening so you can get a peek inside.
2) The Planning Board recommended approval of a general rezoning for 121 Gilead.
The Blythe House, which was rehabbed in 2021 and designated a historical landmark in 2022, is currently used as commercial office space. Given its location in the heart of Downtown Huntersville, the owners are asking for the property to be rezoned to Town Center with the idea that it offers additional flexibility for the types of businesses and future tenants that could go in there. This is currently scheduled to go in front of the Town Board on April 21st for a final decision.
3) The Town Board approved a multi-use project on the current site of Dearness Gardens and other adjacent parcels totaling almost 12 acres.
Combined, we will see up to 225 apartments, up to 20 townhomes, and 11,500 sq. ft. of commercial space. The latter will front Old Statesville Rd. and have a cap of 20% office space, leaving the rest for businesses such as retail or food & beverage.
